The Board of Directors of Aboriginal Pipeline Group (APG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Reid, P. Eng., to the position of President.
Mr. Reid brings more than thirty years of pipeline experience in the North American natural gas pipeline industry to this role. He has an unrivaled amount of pipeline industry knowledge, which includes operations, construction, engineering, customer service, public affairs/government relations, marketing and negotiations. As President of Iroquois Gas Transmissions, a pipeline built across the Northeastern United States by TransCanada Pipelines, Mr. Reid gained the experience sought by APG in its President. During his career Mr. Reid progressed through several positions of increasingly senior executive responsibility at TransCanda, including serving as President of three different business units.
In his last role with TransCanada as Senior Vice President of Northern Development and, following TransCanada’s merger with Nova, as a consultant to the organization, Mr. Reid assessed the viability of the Mackenzie Gas Project and gained a thorough understanding of the North and its many regions. Most recently Mr. Reid has been consulting with Ziff Energy Group.
“Mr. Reid has unsurpassed knowledge and background in the pipeline industry which will ensure strong representation in the project and realization of our financial opportunity as owners in the Mackenzie Valley pipeline,” said Fred Carmichael, chairman of the Board of Directors of APG. “We are very fortunate to have someone of this calibre working for APG, providing guidance through this complex and massive project.”
With the assistance of Ray & Berndtson, the largest executive search firm in Canada, the Board of Directors completed an exhaustive and extensive search nationwide, focused on the North and the Petroleum Industry.
APG was created by the aboriginal groups of the Northwest Territories in 2000 and represents the ownership interests of Aboriginal people in the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline. The corporate entities of APG are made up of Mackenzie Valley Aboriginal Pipeline Limited Partnership and the Mackenzie Valley Aboriginal Pipeline Corporation. APG holds a 1/3 share in the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline, a project that is currently in the development stage. APG offers a new business model for Aboriginal participation in the developing NWT economy and supports a greater independence and self-reliance among Aboriginal people.
